If your student is the recipient of a Balfour/Community/Trustee Scholar award, there are a few things that you can do to help your student gain access to his/her stipend. Here are some frequently asked questions about the Balfour/Community/Trustee Scholar program.

When Can My Student Access His/Her Balfour/Community/Trustee Scholar Stipend?

Your student is first eligible to access his/her Scholar stipend in the sophomore year, provided that he/she continues to meet the program requirements.

What Can The Stipend Be Used For?

The Scholar stipend can be applied to a range of unpaid out-of-class learning experiences including internships, research, student-faculty collaborations, professional development activities and community service endeavors.

How Does My Student Learn That He/She Can Access The Stipend?

Your child is informed via monthly email about program deadlines and opportunities to access his/her Scholar dollars.

Are There Deadlines To Access The Stipend?

As with most financial awards, in order to access the stipend for an unpaid out-of-class learning experience, your student must follow specific steps and complete paperwork by designated deadlines.
