LIBRARY USE AND BORROWING POLICIES[Circulation Loan Periods] [Renewals] [Circulation Policies for Reserves and Multimedia Materials] [Laptop Loan Policy] [Interlibrary Loan Services] [Patron Privacy] [Food and Drink Policy] [Cell Phone Policy] [Library Privileges for Wheaton Employees] Who may use the Wallace Library?The Wallace Library exists to support the educational mission of Wheaton College and the curricular needs of the Wheaton community. Precedence will be given to members of the Wheaton College community in the use of all library facilities and resources at all times. Visitors are asked to abide by visitor policies and sign the Visitor's Registration Log located in the library foyer. After 10pm, the Wallace Library is open only to members of the Wheaton Community. Borrowing privileges are extended to the following groups: Other Area Residents -- Borrowing privileges are extended to other area residents who are 18 years of age or older for an annual fee of Wheaton ID CardThe Wheaton ID card serves as a library card for students, faculty and staff of the College. The 14-digit barcode number on the back of your ID is required to check out materials, to view your patron record, renew materials online and to borrow from other HELIN libraries. Your library barcode is also required to access online resources from off campus. Circulation Loan PeriodsBorrowers are responsible for all materials checked out to their account. RenewalsBooks and other circulating material may be renewed as long as they have not been requested by another patron. From the library homepage: http://www.wheatoncollege.edu/library/home.html, click on the link in the yellow sidebar titled "My Library Record". For assistance please call ext. 8224. RecallsAll checked-out items are subject to recall after a loan period of two weeks. You may request a recall at the Circulation Desk. As soon as the material is returned, you will be notified that it is being held for you at the Circulation Desk. All items needed for course reserve are subject to recall at any time. HoldsA hold can be placed on materials currently checked out to another patron. You will need your library barcode to place the request. When the item is returned, you will be notified that the item is being held for you at the Circulation Desk. For assistance please ask at the Circulation Desk or the Information Desk. Items not found on the shelfPatrons who cannot locate an item on the shelf may fill out an item search request at the Circulation Desk. The staff will check the stacks at regular intervals and will notify the patron of the results of the search. Items that cannot be located are reported to our Acquisitions department for reorder. If a patron needs a missing item immediately and it is not available at another HELIN library s/he may place an Interlibrary Loan request for the missing item. Returning Library materialsPlease promptly return all library materials when they are due. All library materials (including HELIN and InRhode books) can be returned at the Circulation Desk. When the library is closed there is a book return located inside the first set of doors on the right. Fines, Notices and BillsCourtesy NoticesIn an effort to help patrons avoid fines and replacement charges, courtesy notices will be emailed when materials are coming due. FinesFines are assessed according to the policies of each HELIN library. Be sure to understand the borrowing policies for the items you borrow from HELIN libraries. Wheaton faculty, students and staff are personally responsible for fines charged to your account. Fines must be paid directly to the lending HELIN library. Overdue NoticesOverdue notices are sent when materials are overdue. SECOND NOTICE: sent seven days after the first notice THIRD NOTICE: mailed seven days after the second notice. Replacement Fees for Lost MaterialA replacement fee of $45.00 and a $5.00 processing fee will be charged for all Wheaton materials that are not returned. Replacement fees at other HELIN libraries may be as high as $100.00/book. Borrowers of materials from other HELIN libraries will be personally responsible for any charges on their account. Replacement charges for lost or damaged books must be paid directly to the HELIN lending library. Course ReserveReservesCourse reserve material is available at the Circulation Desk. Reserve items may be borrowed for two hours or three days, depending on the material selected using your Wheaton ID. Unless specifically indicated by the faculty member, 2-hour reserve material cannot leave the premises. MediaVideo CollectionThe Audio Media CollectionThe collection of CDs, cassettes, and spoken CDs are located in locked cabinets on the stack level outside the Music Seminar Room. To browse this collection please ask at the Circulation Desk. Listening facilities are available in the Library. Books on TapeA collection of Books on Tape are available at the Circulation Desk. View multimedia borrowing policies at other HELIN libraries LaptopsLaptopsThe library has 6 Dell Latitude D630 laptops available for checkout at the Circulation Desk. Wheaton students with a valid Wheaton college ID may borrow laptops for use within the facility. Other Library Policies
Food and Drink PolicyTo provide a comfortable, inviting study atmosphere for all library users, -Drinks must be in spill-proof containers Please note: We are assessing the library's food and drink policy. Cell Phone PolicyPatrons are asked to turn off cell phone ringers when entering the Wallace Library. Patrons placing or receiving a call are asked to do so in one of the following areas:
