Typing Special Characters


Please use the correct spelling and punctuation in the test, including the accents and special characters. Here is a summary of how to type these special characters on the web. It is helpful to have a paper copy of this table as you take the test.

 

 

Detailed example for the Macintosh:     typing á
Option + e,  Then  a
means
  1. Hold down the option key
  2. Press the e key
  3. Release both keys
  4. Now type a


Detailed example for the PC :     typing á
ALT + 160
means
  1. Use the NumLock key on the numeric keypad, on the right side of the keyboard, to turn NumLock on. The NumLock light should be on.
  2. Press and hold the ALT key on the main keyboard.
  3. While holding the ALT key down, type 160 on the numeric keypad.
