Wheaton in Argentina: Buenos Aires

The Argentine Universities Program in affiliation with IFSA Butler

Profile: Through the Argentine Universities Program it is possible for students to enroll in one of four major universities in Buenos Aires. Students are fully integrated into campus life and classes along with Argentine students. Each university has its own distinct character and a range of fields of study. For instance, the University of Buenos Aires is the largest public university in Argentina (222,000 students), while the Universidad de Torcuato Di Tella has an enrollment of 800 students. A more detailed description of each institution is included in the Butler Program Brochure.

Location: "Paris of the Americas", a nickname for Buenos Aires is indicative of the cultural life and cosmopolitan atmosphere of Argentina's largest city (pop. 13 million). Argentina shares the same colonial heritage of other countries of Latin America. Students will be able to acquire a better understanding of the political and social history of Argentina: whether though a course in the Faculty of Social Sciences or UBA or an examination of one of the richest literary traditions of the 20th century. In terms of natural beauty and exploration, Argentina offers the Andes Mountains, subtropical rainforests, the pampas of the central plains, glaciers to the south and more.
