Wheaton in Chile: Santiago and Valparaiso

Profile: In affiliation with COPA (Cooperating Programs in the Americas), Wheaton is able to offer students the opportunity to enroll in three major universities in this South American country. Students are fully integrated into campus life and classes. A range of subject areas are available. Details are available in the COPA Program brochure.
Location: Chile is diverse in geography, climate and its people, reflecting
both European and indigenous cultures and traditions. It is possible to learn about and then visit the sites of the ancient empire of the Incas; or study the works of Chilean Nobel Prize poets Pablo Neruda or Gabriela Mistral; or acquire an understanding of the political and social and economic changes in Chile.
Duration: Academic year and semester options
Program dates:
Academic Year in Southern Hemisphere runs from February to December. Semester 1 (U.S. Spring): February - July
Semester 2 (U.S. Fall): July - December
Courses & credit: Students enroll in four to five courses each semester. Mandatory Advanced Spanish Language courses may be combined with program and university courses. 15 to 16 U.S. semester hours earns 4.0 Wheaton credits.

Admission requirements: Juniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Two years of college level Spanish or the equivalent. Five semesters of College level Spanish are required for Universities in Santiago.
Housing & board: Students live with families and three meals per day are provided.
Fees: Wheaton Comprehensive Fees. Expenses include tuition, housing and meals, round-trip airfare on group flights from Boston or New York, and the ISIC card.
Other Expenses: Students are responsible for transportation to group flight departure cities, passport and visa fees, local transportation, books and supplies, supplemental Study Abroad Insurance, and personal expenses.
