Profile: IES Delhi offers a rigorous academic program for semester and academic year students that focuses on contemporary India. The program offers a broad range of courses in the humanities and social sciences. Students can also pursue their academic interests in Delhi universities and colleges. A core course on the Cities of Delhi introduces students to the many layers in the environment where they will be living and studying and provides a unique opportunity for individualized field research in an area of the student¢â¡Ás interest.
Location: Delhi is the second most populous country in the world. It is the seat of the Indian government and a city of contrasts. This is a city where streets are shared by modern cars, scooter cabs, pedi-cabs, motorcycles, cows, and even elephants, and where men in dhotis share sidewalks with men in modern business suits and women in jeans and saris. The IES center is located in the southern part of Delhi not far from some of the most important monuments of the city.

Courses & credit: Students normally enroll in a core course on the Cities of Delhi, a course in the Hindi language, and three other courses, one of which can be at an Indian university, earning 4.0 Wheaton credits. Internships are available and must be pre-approved by the appropriate Wheaton faculty member prior to departure.

Admission requirements: Students with a minimum GPA of 3.0. No previous Hindi language required.
Housing & board: Students are housed with Indian families throughout south Delhi. They will receive breakfast and one other meal per day.
Fees: Wheaton tuition and housing. Expenses covered include tuition, housing, two meals per day in home-stays, round-trip group flight from Los Angeles, program related field trips, transportation subsidy, and an ISIC card.
Other Expenses: Students are responsible for passport and visa fees, round-trip airfare to Los Angeles, meals not provided by the host family, textbooks, local transportation, cell-phone deposit and charges, immunizations and vaccinations, IES insurance coverage, and personal expenses.
