Getting Paid

Submitting Work Hours

The student employment program runs on a biweekly pay schedule. Students should enter and submit hours on their Inside Wheaton account time sheets to their supervisors on each appropriate Friday by 2 p.m..

Hours submitted late will be processed with the next payroll cycle.

If a student does not receive a pay check or has a problem with his/her check, s/he should speak directly to the supervisor. The supervisor will work with the Payroll Office to rectify the problem as soon as possible.

When a completed time sheet is submitted on time to the Payroll Office, pay checks will be processed on Thursday of the following week and are deposited directly to a student-specified bank account.

Direct Deposit

The College offers a pay check direct deposit service for student employees. All Wheaton employees including student employees are required to use this service. Taking advantage of this opportunity will eliminate the possibility of a lost or stolen pay check. Funds will be available in the bank at the opening of business on each payday. For additional information, stop by the College Payroll Office in Park Hall.

Wage Scale

The Student Employment Office uses the Job Classification Form to determine the classification and pay rate for each position. Student wages are set with certain objectives in mind: equity among students performing comparable tasks, availability of funds, and ease and consistency in administrative maintenance.

Wheaton currently uses a wage system with four levels of pay. The hourly 2009-2010 wage scale is as follows:

Level 1 - $8.00
Level 2 - $8.25
Level 3 - $8.50
Level 4 - $9.25

Student Life Residential Assistant

Wages students earn in Residential Assistants (RA) positions are not deducted from their annual work study allotments. Therefore, RAs, with the approval of the Director of Student Life, may work in more than one on-campus position without penalty. Wages earned in an additional position will be paid through the College Payroll Office and deducted from work study allotments.
