Some useful places to go for more information about LGTBQ topics, being an ally, and spreading the word.
Safe Zone Committee. Wheaton's campus-wide program designed to train and make visible students, staff, and faculty peers who support the LGBTQ population. To get Safe Zone certified, watch the calendar for information about training sessions.
PFLAG: Parents, Families, & Friends of Lesbians and Gays. A nationwide organization designed to promote the health of LGBTQ individuals and their families and friends.
Human Rights Campaign. A political organization that lobbies in favor of LGBTQ equality, including same-sex marriage rights and equal workplace benefits.
Past Events
Some of the people and shows hosted by the Alliance in the past, with great success.
Fluid. A one-woman show in which Erika Kate MacDonald plays with, plays off of, and pokes fun at "the mystique of the bisexual woman."
Good Asian Drivers Tour. A phenomenal singer/song writer and slam poet duo who speak to issues of Asian Americans, sexuality, and sexual identity diversity. Look them up on YouTube!
Ignacio Rivera. A slam poetry performance that reflects on multi-gender & multi-racial experiences within the Latino and Queer Communities in the U.S. and the Caribbean. A series of breath-taking pieces by the artist, followed by discussion and a Q&A.

Enter the Refinery. An essay written by Josh Begley on the subject of identity, discussed during a recent meeting.
Gender-Neutral Housing Proposal. The plan to offer gender-neutral housing as an option at Wheaton, to be implemented starting in Spring 2010.
